ECCO and House of Communication held a seminar on leather for selected press and buyers, followed by a workshop where we were given insight into the production of leather goods.

The Danish brand has expanded from shoes to purses, bags and other leather goods, selling high quality products all over the globe. Lead by Mikkel Jensen and Alice Topart, we got the chance to make personal bags with our own hands, in leather qualities of our choosing. All in all, interesting and nice to see the production chain, ending up with your own customized product.

byMAGMALOU: SS15 collection preview

Thursday saw the preview of the byMAGMALOU SS15 collection at the luxury Oslo hotel The Thief.

byMAGMALOU was created in 2014, by Marthe Kveli Valberg, who after running the exclusive and popular second-hand shop MAGMALOU for three-and-a-half years felt it was right to take it to the next level. With designer Andrea Johannesen she started producing her own designs, "inspired by Scandinavian minimalism with a hint of international glamour."

byMAGMALOU's success has been immense, and in less than a year the clothing has been sold in over 40 shops around the world.

At The Thief we were presented with finely sculptured skirts and tops; oriental inspired prints, kimonos and necklines; halter neck dresses with delicate cut-outs; and 60s inspired Twiggy dresses.

All in qualities such as from viscose, cotton and polyester. New this season is also the basics collection, which will feature basic pieces sure to appease the taste of stylish women. The flirty summer collection will hit stores in spring 2015, providing women with outfits to follow byMAGMALOU's motto: "dress up - dress down".

Fun fact: The name MagMaLou itself is a portmanteau of the names of her husband, daughter and herself.

Gambit PR: SS15 Press Day

The press day at Gambit is always a blast - an event filled with glamour, exclusivity and innovation. The PR agency represents some of the leading brands in the business, such as Mercedes-Benz, Louis Vuitton, Tiger of Sweden, Gant, Cala&Jade, Specsavers, Birgitte Herskind, Emma S., LG Electronics, American VIntage, Wella, Match, Cubus and SoBazaar.

 

I particularly enjoyed what showroom manager Julie Holst Berntsen had done with the Louis Vuitton expo. The Tiger of Sweden showcase also featured some of the sharpest pieces from the SS15 collection for both men and women.

One of the best parts about press weeks is that you get to see and touch the products up close before they reach the stores. And, with a luxury agency such as Gambit, it is always a treat to try on thus-far inaccessible and exclusive pieces.

House of Communication: SS15 Press Day

PR agency House of Communication invited us to check out the collections and trends for Spring/Summer 2015, during Press Week. My definite favourites were the gym pieces from Moods of Norway, and the modernization of the Ecco shoes. More to come about those two later!

Spalt PR: SS15 Press Day

Press Week Spring Summer 2015 just closed in Oslo, and PR agency Spalt PR invited us to their showroom to present the collections and trends for summer-season 2015.
Spalt represents brands such as Adidas, Peak Performance, Thomas Sabo, Reebok and Tissot, amongst others.

TOMs shoes at the U.S. Embassy

Marianne Jemtegård and fiancé violinist Philippe Benjamin Skow

I was invited to a reception at the U.S. Ambassador's residence, to meet Blake Mycoskie, founder of TOMs shoes, and one of the world's most generous philanthropists.

We were given a presentation of the TOMs venture, and Mycoskie explained how the whole project came to being as well as how the journey has evolved.

 In addition, the "Models Giving Back"-project was presented, which is a campaign with fashion magazine ELLE and models Siri Tollerød, Erjona Ala and Alexandra Ørbeck-Nilssen, where the models get to donate funds and shoes to charity. All in all, it was indeed a very charitable afternoon.
